yes I did as a kid and still do to this day and my son does to we make our own fishing lures paint them up and see who's design or shape works the best.So far my sons designs have caught more fish.

Yes. Whittling is actually considered in many cultures, an art form. Just like painting, an artist will say that the picture exists, and you're just revealing it. The same thing is with whittling. Whittling will make many useful things. From a sharp stick, to a wooden spoon. The first few times be careful and wear gloves, so you won't cut yourself, and yes, you will fell a bit dumb in the first few attempts, once you're a master, you'll feel like Omega.

Do you mean "whittle"?

I don't, but I tried.  I did it poorly, and never got to be any good at this, so I gave up.  My grandfather did, and did well.  I didn't have the strength in my fingers to control the blade, so I went to modeling clay.  It isn't as hard, so I didn't need as much strength.
