Do you value individual states rights?

If so, do you think Roe v. Wade should be overturned, thus returning the abortion question to the individual states?

I've lived through a "free" choice thing:  IO was 4 months pregnant when the docs diagnosed me with a fast growing and deadly cancerous tumor.  The docs told me that I had to do something right away or I wasn't going to live much longer.  Imagine that.  I had 3 options:  do nothing and try to carry to term---and die.  Get chemo and radiation--it'll kill the baby.  Or, have a partial birth abortion, get surgery, chemo, radiation and a better chance to live.  It was my first pregnancy and my husband and I were devastated.  It was a heartbreaking decision--but, it's like my husband said:  if I don't do nothing, then the both of us would be dead.  If I did something, the unborn would be dead, but I could try for another baby.  No man can imagine what that means unless he walked in the shoes of my husband, and no one can truly understand this unless she had walked in my shoes.  I took the doctor's offer and fought for my life for 5 years.  When they told me that I was cancer free I tried for another baby and that time around I was able to go through with the pregnancy and have a healthy child.

    Anyone who wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade and declare abortion a criminal act is playing God--and believe me, I'll challenge anyone who would try to take my right to choose.  Who in the heck do they think they are that they can decide when I have to die?????


  2. autism is on the rise in the country do you support increased funding for the research and maintenance of these children and families? Many of the treatments are considered experimental and are not covered by insurance companies leading many families to bankruptcy. obama is in favor of extended coverage for these families and a redefinition of "experimental" for autistic kids. Can you explain why the so called pro-life people abandon mother and child at the delivery room door?

  3. if roe v wade is not overturned, mcbush would propose a constitutional amendment to ban ALL abortion--which is what sarah wants--so if you get raped and impregnated, you will be forced to have the baby--even if it means you could die. Mcbush/palin means MORE government intrusion into individuals' lives. The right needs to quit trying to legislate morality. Either that or get rid of it's closeted g**s, like larry craig, mark foley, jeff cannon, ted haggard and the prostitute guy larry vittner. The right is just a bunch of hypocrites

    I think states rights has really been ignored for a very long time.  I would rather see Roe v Wade either kept as is or overturned.  I don't think that should be a state's rights issue.   Just because of the nature of the act.  Now g*y marriage, I think that is definitely state's rights.

  5. I believe wholeheartedly in the US Constitution, including the concept of states' rights as set out in that document. That is, as set forth in these sections and amendments:

       No state shall, without the consent of the Congress, lay any imposts or duties on imports or exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection laws: and the net produce of all duties and imposts, laid by any state on imports or exports, shall be for the use of the treasury of the United States; and all such laws shall be subject to the revision and control of the Congress.

       No state shall, without the consent of Congress, lay any duty of tonnage, keep troops, or ships of war in time of peace, enter into any agreement or compact with another state, or with a foreign power, or engage in war, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent danger as will not admit of delay.

    Article IV

    Section 1. Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.  ...

    Roe vs Wade determined that every individual citizen of the United States - no matter what state they reside in - is entitled to a basic right of privacy, including the right to make their own decisions about what happens with their body.

    The decision put rational limits on that right with regard to a woman's right to choose whether to continue a pregnancy or to terminate it. In the first trimester of pregnancy, the right is absolute and neither the states nor Congress have any power to curtail that right. At the other extreme, third trimester abortion can be completely prohibited except for extreme circumstances involving the life and health of the mother. In the second trimester, state and federal governments can regulate abortion within certain guidelines. It is in these two trimesters - 2/3 of the time of pregnancy - that the states' rights to regulate remain intact but limited.

    The 'abortion question' was never taken away from the states completely - it was simply limited.

  6. I ignore the abortion issue, but yes. The federal government continues to grow and take power away from states. That is not what the founding fathers intended. Democrats are mostly to blame for stealing states rights.

    Roe Vs. Wade stopped religion from becoming a factor. Face it, the only reason people want abortions to stop is because they believe that that is what god would not want, for you to attempt to make a legitimate case against choice otherwise would be insulting on several different levels...

  10.    The issue of Roe vs Wade is simply too controversial for a single decision.    However,I do agree that State Rights should be returned to pre-1960 status and Federal Government intervention restricted.

       States have the capablility to govern and manage their own affairs with limited Federal intervention.

  12. Hopefully disappointed HRC supporters will answer this question. Since that is the demographic that McSame seems to be aiming for. Too bad that his aim, like the nut that prayed for rain during the DNC, is kind of off. Any self-respecting Hillary supporter would look at all that McSame/Ailin' stand for and vote NO WAY! If you would vote against your and your candidate's self interests, you were no true Democrat anyway.

    There are many  question that need to be answer about the Mayor from Alaska Palin .We know Gov. Sarah Palin has some baggage that makes her a pretty risky choice for McCain: she's embroiled in an abuse of power investigation, was for the infamous "bridge to nowhere" before she lied about being against it, is pretty cozy with corrupt Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens, doesn't exactly know what the vice president's job actually is, etc., etc.Palin is not ready to be president .
