I am very intrigued by self-actualization and what some psychologist (Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, etc) have emphasized upon self-actualization. Though, I believe it is not completely reachable in all aspects the thought of realization in the self is intriguing.

So, do you value self-actualization or have a difference perspective upon it?

  1. I don't think Maslow had his pyramid exactly right...

If you think about it, it's difficult to reach and attain self-actualization as the basic needs are at all times changing.

    But...

Yes... I do believe in self-actualization... But does that mean I won't be able to answer this question if I was hungry?

    =)

  2. yes...I live it.

  3. self actualization...from the sounds of it....yes. i havnt actually heard much about it and now im going to look it up and research it a lot....you intigued me my freind!!!!!

  4. More than anything.

It is not fully attainable, it is something to continue to work towards.

Arguably, Zen masters would be close, though by some standards, I'm sure they would be a veiled antithesis of self-realization.

  5. It is a key my friend. It is necessary.

  6. Interesting question. I remember in highschool my psych teacher talking about that. For me to become self actualized, I see it as becoming like a renaissance man/woman, and learning a lot about a lot of different things. I feel like I'd understand more what I am capable of, by learning what years of research has taught us. I like the idea of having richness to my spirit and mind. But, if I'm not mistaken, I think self actualization has to do with a lot of other stuff too. I'll have to look into it. I'm glad someone brought it up though!
