  1. I do volunteer in my community.  I enjoy helping others and being there for them.  I'm grateful for what I have and this reminds me of where others are.  I also make donations of cash and gifts to women's and children's shelters and to organizations that assist the homeless.  I also donate school supplies to schools.  It makes me feel good and feel like I'm helping others.  My life doesn't evolve around me.

  2. yea i do volunter because i liketo volunteeer AND bcuz it looks gud on ur college aplication

  3. Because I believe in what I am doing and because if we all just gave a little bit of time and effort, we'd change the world.

  4. I have done volunteer work on top of my job. I had my daughter out at habitat for Humanity when she was 4, sitting with the children of potential homeowners and sorting nails. She wasn't too young to do something. Now she just texted me that she's volunteering at the local humane society walking dogs. She's 24 and lives in another state.

At first volunteering made me feel good in helping others but now I realize that it actually does something to me internally. I think it releases endporphins, the "feel good" hormones. It makes us whole complete people in a communal world.

Start by volunteering with something that interests you- be it church, Habitat, job retraining, elderly, the green movement. That gets you motivated. Soon you can't imagine not doing it and it just becomes part of your life. My parents were politically active and volunteered a lot so you'll pass it down to your children by being a role model

  6. I do, can't help myself but help others...in my work place, in the family, in community, in my referral circle, beyond my circle, relatives, community..where ever, whenever I see that my little move can ease, help make people comfortable...I do it which at times make a difference...A BIG one! I fall for it literally...this comes from my nature, my gate, my attitude towards life....

  7. to make myself useful!
