  1. Soon as in 40 years soon ?  Let's see that would make me retirement age.  I guess it depends on the quality of healthcare and whether any of my knowledge will be useful for a group of rugged thrill seeking youngsters with no respect for their elders.

  2.   Nah.

  3. No. Would you?

  4. Most of the time I'd say, "No", but I am the mom of a teenager so... sometimes anywhere but here sounds good.  :)

  5. No, I just want everyone else to.

  6. Big noooooooo!

  7. I don't think they have internet yet.  So..probably not.

  8. Yes for sure, sign me up for early registration, where do i sign. I've always dreamt of living on Mars because it is so different from Earth but yet it's the closest thing we have to habitable planet in our solar system, i would climb Olympus Mons, go ripping around in a Martian dune buggy, heck 1/3 gravity would give a whole new meaning to indoor paintball games.

  9. Sounds like a nice idea until you think about it.

If they do colonize it, the first people up there would be the scientists and engineers building the colony and performing experiments. As it would be so expensive to get people there, they'll want their money's worth out of everyone so it would be incredibly hard work with not much leisure time. It would also be hard to contact people back on Earth so you'd lose contact with all but the very closest people to you and only get to contact them infrequently. There would be little chance of you ever coming back. You'd have to live mainly in the colony with limited access to the Martian surface and even then, you'd be in an environmental suit so it wouldn't be a case of running around climbing Martian mountains and having a great time. You'd leave the colony, do your work and come back. The oxygen would be too expensive to use up on leisure outside the colony.

On top of all that, you get the chance to die if something goes wrong.

So, all in all, not really. Sounds good until you think about it but it would actually be more like being in prison.

  10. Even if it's liveable I would have to say no.
