Do you want to see your stimulas check be taken by a creditor? watch out for this scam..?

I recently was so excited to get my stimulas check. I waited , and waited and waited some more. I got online and checked to see why it was not here yet, they told me call there 800 number and that i did. After 35 minutes of waiting they give me another number and who to call if your stimulas check may have gotten taken or have a hold on it. So I call and what do you know a creditor has put a hold on my money. Did you know the clause in the stimulas? if people owe money that crediotrs can put in to recieve that money. So what was this only to help other businesses get money from you that they may never had been able to get before? and I actually went to court over this matter 3 months ago and was ordered to not have to pay these people and now I have to go throught he whole process of getting the money back and it could take up to 6 months. I thought it was adapted to go out and spend to help put but really it was made to help creditors get paid, what a rip off.beware.

If you were ordered that you did not owe it than you need to send a copy of the order to the IRS OFFSET Department otherwise they will not give you back the money. You have to go through the IRS NOT the collection agencies. Unfortunately it is Not a rip off if you owe the government money say the

California Department of Education for back student loans than YES they can take it. Any one who puts a lien on your check for payment because you refused to pay it can take it including credit card companies, Doctor bills, telephone and PG&E bills.

I agree with you that sounds like a total rip off. I would take that creditor to court and sue them for taking your money when they were not entitled to it. This whole stimulus check thing is a bunch of BS. It was supposed to be spent to stimulate the economy but with so many stipulations and holds, and the economy being in such a downward spiral, there is no way it is actually working for what it was meant for. Sorry for your luck.
