So I've been hearing about the impending deadline for digital conversion for years and years now, since they also moved it out. Now it's finally coming and they are making a big deal out of it.

How many people really actually still watch TV over the air with an analog television? Personally, I'm the only person I know that doesn't have Cable, but I live in a city and I can get lots of broadcast HD stations with a small antenna. And I only watch one channel anyway. I'm watching on a 1080p tv with atsc tuner of course. I can't even imagine still watching the analog stations these days.

  1. Here's my 2 cents.  I have Direct TV and still also use an analog antenna.  Reason being, I do not have a TIVO, so if we're recording something from Direct TV, on a VHS machine,  we can't watch regular TV unless I switch over to the Antenna input and watch all of our local channels during this recording time.  I also have UHF antennas up with a Digital Converter Box so I can also watch Digital TV on my Aux input.  My analog antennas are on 30 ft. poles with rotators and pre-amps.  The station transmittiing  towers are about 75 miles away.

  2. a lot of rural people still use analog antennas for local channels because there is no cable in their area.  But most also have a satellite dish to.

In the LA area - you can pick up a lot of channels just on  rabbit ears.

  3. I must know 25 people (mostly elderly, fixed income) that have NEVER had cable.
