  1. I totally watch birth videos on YouTube. :) I didn't start until about a year ago, and my kids are 5 and 7, but I want more children and am debating what type of childbirth I want to go through, since the last two were rather unpleasant. With those videos, you get to see actual accounts of the various types of labor people choose, and to see a variety of different reactions to labor and birth. I'd recommend it.

  2. I've seen two on youtube now. I have never seen anything so awful in my life and if I didn't want a baby before, I certainly don't now. Men have no regard at all for what women go through, if you want to have your genitals torn open in a room full of strangers while noone cares about the pain you are in, I guess that is your issue but my suggestion would be don't have children, take care of the life you already have and don't risk hurting your body and ending up with post traumatic stress disorder (which I swear I almost did just watcthing!  eeewwwwwwwwwwwwww) :S It is very undignified to give birth, seriously. And also if you are already pregnant you can get help if you don't want to end up traumatised, have an abortion that way at least you will be unconcious while you deliver.

  3. I did a while ago i think it just made me scared though i was fine then seeing the videos was like Ahhhh! something i didn't need 2 see because i wont be looking at that part of me.

  4. Some people like to watch birth video's to help prepare (my partner did. I have fast labours, so he also looked up emergency delivery procedures). It may or may not help you (it'll probably scare you a bit). I've never watched a birthing video but I've had 2kids and am pregnant with my 3rd. If you think it'll help you prepare, do so but remember- it's a lot different enduring it (feeling and seeing your own body do it).

The best suggestions I could give regarding preparation is-

    * make sure your 'labour bag' is packed (baby clothes, nappies, baby blankets, wipes, clothes for you, pads for you, etc)

    * Have your 'nursery' set up ready (nappies, wipes, cot/bassinet,etc)

  5. I don't think it really helps you prepare because everyones labor is different.  But I do watch some of the videos on there.  But that is because I can't wait to have my own!

  6. I've seen probably like 4 or 5 births/labor videos due to all the classes I've taken to prepare. My advice, because you never know what kind of weird **** you're gonna find on the internet, is to sign up for a birth prep class. They will teach you everything that you need to know about the stages of labor, when to go to the hospital, how to cope with the contractions, the drugs that are available *(and their risks) etc...

I feel so much more prepared, and it helps the person who is going to be coaching you too to see what's going to happen.

  7. Unless you plan on watching your own birth, I don't think it really helps prepare at all.

  8. yes. and i watch the discovery heath chanel, they have tons of birthing shows that i learn more from then the doctor!

  9. No, TLC has shows bringing home baby.  Sure a birth video would show you everything, but do you really want to know.  Seeing all of that may really scare you.

  10. When I get a chance, I like to watch TLC's "Baby Story" where they follow a family through the pregnancy and delivery of the baby.  I have joked with my mom (who can't stand the show) that it's my best way of gauging if I am ready to go through it again:  If it makes me cringe when the delivery is under way, I'm not ready!

Seriously, though, seeing someone else give birth does nothing more for me than remind me what I've been through with previous births and makes me feel that certain connection to other women who are going through, or have been through pregnancy/birth.  Each person and pregnancy and delivery is so individual, there's not much it can do to prepare you for your own.

  11. I dont know if it helps you be prepared or not but YES i do... and it freaked me out at first, but now im getting used to the fact that i will be dispensing a watermelon through a grape sized whole in about 18 weeks lol.. keep watching if it is helpful to you!!! if you feel it is preparing you.. keep on, or if you just like to watch those precious miracles be born!! then so be it!
