  1. foam boards have a different texture than glass boards and are far less slick when wet but YES they are made to have wax applied to them so do yourself a favor and don't listen to the guy "who's been surfing for 30 years"... use some wax


  2. No matter what your riding, it's always best to use wax.  I'd still recommend using a basecoat first then a layer of wax (make sure to use the appropriate temp wax).  

    In general you want to use COLD water wax for water <60.  COOL water wax for water temps 60-68.  WARM water wax for water temp 68>.  You'll use TROPICAL if the water is effin warm-warm-warm :)

  3. YOU DO NOT NEED TO WAX A SOFT TOP LONGBOARD!!

  4. Depends on the soft top. I used blown close cell polyethylene. As a surfer you already know the benefits of wax. You can always leave the board in warm room then wipe the wax off later with a couple of rags if you are unhappy.
