  1. Yes you wear them every time but DO NOT use your rollerblade/skateboard helmet while biking!!!!!

Skate helmets are built to take 5-8 mph hits, over and over. They last.

Bike helmets are built to take a 15-20 mph hit ONE TIME! You throw a bike helmet away after even a moderate crash.

A skate helmet will not deform and sacrifice itself in a bad bicycle crash the way a bike helmet will. It won't give a cyclist enough protection.

You can use a bike helmet on a skateboard (but you'll probably whack it the first day and you'll ignore it because the helmet was expensive, use it again even though it's cracked and wind up in the hospital after the cracked styrofoam didn't protect your head in a bad crash and the super thin shell didn't offer anything like the protection of a thick lexan skate helmet) ... never mind, don't.

  2. i ride my BMX bike 4hour's a day every day at the skatepark doing some sick trick's and trying new one's.

i never wear a helmet...  but, when i first started bmx i use to always wear i helmet. but after a year (after crashing a couple time's a each day) i stop using a helmet, because...  kinda hard to explain but, the more you crash, the more you learn to crash.  i never crashed on my head.

ok yea i face planted some time's, i have scar's and huge cut's on my arm/leg's  i am full of bruses but i learned how to fall down my bike. i still do sometime's when im either tired or im trying to do a showoff competition and trying to impress the people.

so no, i am not dead not in a coma or nothing, din't wear a helmet in 5year's maybe even 6

i once was scared tho, i went on a 11foot half pipe, i went down and went up the other side of the pipe and in the hair prolly like 15foot in the air i messed up my trick and fell down... i was lucky and i had minor scrap's and stuff.

anyways it's all on how you fall.. and what you do.

  3. ALL THE TIME!!!

Just imagine yourself running and hitting a wall without a helmet, if you run very fast you might be able to go up to 8 or 10 MPH, now in a bike that goes much faster the damage is going to be much worst. So YES, it is better to break a helmet than your head.

  4. NO, i ain't no p***y

  5. if i get on my bike butt in seat helment is on my head i wear one all the time they save lifes

  6. the next time your mom is driving through the neighborhood at 25 mph, strip down to your underwear, and jump out of the car. this is what a bike crash feels like! you'll be wanting your helmet.

actually I had a nasty accident at 40+ mph, in which my helmet was ripped from my head! I suffered a severe concussion, was unconscious for an undetermined length of time, and was in shock for about a week.

my best friend from middle-school/high-school was killed by a bike crash. he wasn't wearing a helmet. 23 years later, I still wear a helmet.

  7. Yes, I value my brain and my looks. I've had one bad accident on my bike and although I looked like a mess afterwards with cuts and grazes on my face but if I wasn't wearing a helmet I'd hate to think what I would have looked like. The front of my helmet took the initial impact on the road and smashed the helmet into 3 pieces, the impact also left many large indentations in the helmet from the gravel, without the helmet it would have been my forehead that took the full impact and probably split my head open and the gravel would have ripped my forehead and face to shreds. I was able to get up after the accident and ride home to clean up my injuries, without the helmet somebody would have had to scrape my brains off the road.

No matter how good a bike rider, skateboarder or rollerblader you are accidents do happen and can't always be avoided. Helmets can and do save lives and can lessen the severity of head injuries from accidents and crashes.

  8. every time.  i have knocked myself out twice.  both times broke my helmet.  i dont know what would have happened without it, but i would never ride without one.

  9. Wear the appropriate helmet for your sport every time. You don't want your brains to be the topping on a street pizza.

    HTH

  10. ABSOLUTELY...I'm a member of the National Mountain Bike Patrol and I have personally witnessed the difference a helmet can make.  My 6 year old son wears his religiously whether he is on his bike, kick scooter, or skateboard.  His first helmet saved his face when he went over the handlebars on pavement.  He got out with minor nicks and scratches.

Make sure you fit your helmet correctly.  Low on your forehead and your chin strap securely fastened.  If you do happen to have an accident while wearing your helmet, inspect it carefully.  If there is any sign of a crack or dent, it should probably be replaced.
