  1. 1. Yes. I exercise most days of the week. I'm a 23 y.o. guy.

    2. I do sprints in summer all-comers track meets and pick up soccer games. I've also done some cycling and swimming. I also use the Concept2 rowing machine which is great for the whole body.

    3. My best timed mile was a 5:20 in PE class in grade 11. Not that fast but I wasn't taking it too seriously. My events in track were 400m (48.5) and 800m (1:59).

    4. Yes. I lift 2-3 days a week. Lifting weights is a great thing to do. You can keep your body in great shape simply by doing a minimum of 2-3 hard sessions of 30 minutes each week. I normally do the whole body in my workout but sometimes do just legs or arms in a session. The order I go is big muscles first: legs (Squats), chest (bench or dumbbell press), then small muscles: hamstring curls or leg extensions, back (pulls), shoulders (pull ups or dips), abs, calf raises. Sometimes but not often I do dead lifts and cleans but those are sort of advanced. It's good to have a few main lifts and then some little ones that you do once in a while for variety.

    5. I currently squat 245 lbs. for 2-3 sets of 8 reps and bench 165 lbs. for 2 sets of 8 reps. I don't max but the most I've ever done was 185 for 2 reps on bench and 5 reps of 275 lbs. for squats. These days I don't use a belt for squats because I don't push it. For the leg press, I use the ones where you can stack on plates onto the sides. I put on 14 45 lb. plates (so 7 plates on each side) and that equals 630 lbs., which I do for 8 reps. I usually build up and do one set of that. My best was 16 plates doing 8 reps so that's 720 lbs.

Leg press machines can be pretty different. I like to use the sled type machines that use standard plates these days. The Nautilus machine at my old YMCA goes up to 320 pounds and I can do that for many reps. When I started at 13, it was hard for me to do 200 lbs on that machine.

6.&7. I can't do any gymnastics. The closest thing I've done in that area was martial arts and we did some tumbling.

Keep exercising. It's good for you. I also do stretching after weights or after running. There is no reason we have to get out of shape when we're older. Keep at it.
