  1. they are surrounded with ppl so no

  2. Yes. School shootings and young children bringing drugs and weapons to school aside.

I see many 6 year olds, even in nice neighborhoods cursing. Very few schools address issues such as bitting, hitting, and teasing properly. These problems are often left to get out of hand or place the victim as the problem causer.

  3. yes, thats why i kept my son home from school on friday. (2/29) there were threats of school violence from the 229 brigade that day. (pinksoldiers)

  4. Please try not to worry too much :] I am a primary school teacher myself and have to assure you that the majority of our "job" is to ensure the safety and well-being of our pupils. This comes as a first and foremost!

  5. All the time, but I try real hard not to think about it, I don't want to stress about it.......I want to believe that my children are safe.....I have to believe that my children are safe, other wise, I'd be way too stress out.....way too stressed out..

  6. honestly, i worry more about my kids when they are at home, b/c my husband and i are constantly fighting.

    =(

  7. No, I never give it a thought.  Her school has fencing all around and the principal and teachers are very attentive to the students.

  8. Right now?  Yes.  There was a threat written on the wall of the boy's bathroom at my stepdaughter's high school on Monday.  They've worked with local police & stepped up security immensely.  Also, they are excusing any absences this week, if parents want to keep their kids out of school.

We decided to have her go in, anyway.

It was not an easy decision to make.

Normally, though, I don't think I'm any more worried about their safety at school than I am worried about their safety anywhere else.

  9. Oh yes I am constantly worried, and her school is in the backyard, I don't allow her to walk to school i have to watch her go in, I allow her to walk home and I sit on the back porch and watch her and she is almost 8, I just want her to be safe with all the creepos and shooting that have occured in school.

  10. I worry ALL the time.. *sad*

It comes along with the job title -MOM-

  11. I used to worry.  Not about people from outside the school, but about people within the system.

Our daughter was emotionally and physically abused by a teacher (I monitored the class, so I witnessed the abuse).  Screaming, denigrating, name-calling, hair pulling, you name it.

Then at her second schoo, a classmate, considered a very nice girl, tried to choke her to death.

We considered our local public school, but they had a few problems with abusive teachers, bullying and sexual assault by a girl's athletic coach.

And we live in one of the top school districts in the country.

Now we homeschool.  It saved our daughter's life.  Oh, and she is busier with academic, athletic and extra-curricular activities than she could have ever been in school.
