  1. Rarely do we get ideal rainfall.   In our zone, that would amount to an inch/week.   Because that is unlikely to happen, you will need to water at times to maintain optimum growth, health and appearence for you yard and garden.

If you are using a well or if there are municipal water restrictions in effect, you will need to learn water conservation techniques.  Using plants that tolerate drought, making sure that your soil has plenty of moisture retaining organic matter, mulch,   use of grey water, etc.

  2. No, not really. I live in the desert. It hasn't rained here in over 2 months!

  3. It doesn't hurt, but unfortunately that's not one of my problems right now--I live in Indiana, and we've had flooding since early spring.

  4. Kinda...

I dont like to see brown grass. & makes me wonder if birds getting enough water, & gardens needs Naturall rain to, so i kinda worry....

  5. it never takes 2 weeks for rain to come here, but if it did I would be worried. normally the rain comes once a day, but sometimes it doesnt rain for a week.

and yes we do need rain at least once a week, if you dont get that much rain you definately need to water yourself, but self watering doesnt seem to help as much as rain water

  6. I live in the Rocky Mountains, and it didn't used to bother me quite as much, but with the recent pine beetle kill (beetles killing our pine trees), I am definitely more worried now.  The forest fires are looming over our heads!  I went camping over the 4th of July, and I was horrified to see our forests are no longer green!  They are a terrible brown.  Rain would be nice to stave of the fires, even though I am sure they will happen eventually.

  7. We haven't had rain in a while and our plants were just about dying.

I do not have irrigation here so they live off of rain water.

Without rain our tomatoes and flowers were going to die.

    Finally it rained here.

I agree we need rain about once a week. Or maybe twice a week when it is really hot.
