Do you write silly poems for practice?

Tillie's lunch

Tillie sits quietly on garden's bench

munching on chili-cheese fritos

She ponders the wonders of the garden,

and what she might have for her lunch.

What dwells among the flowers that grow there?

What are the scents that delight her nose?

Bunnies that nibble, bugs that prick

Ham sandwich perhaps, with mustard for kick.

Worms wiggle and burrow into the earth

Along with a glass of sweet lemonade

No, I can't say that I do. I just let words flow through my mind. When I hear a set of words that sounds good, I say them out loud. If they work, I use them in my poem. I do this until the poem is complete.

I find that I do.  I wished I'd had this to read to Emmy today.  She likes rhyme and meter, she does!  So do I.

Usually, serious poems.  Occasionally, an odd ball or humorous poem.

I wish I could write silly poems...I find that they aren't within me. However, this one is absolutely hysterical. I would love a glass of sweet lemonade with a shot of vodka. Might wake me up from the funk that life keeps throwing at me as of late. Maybe I will attempt a funny poem...eventually.

Yes, I do. Once in a while, they actually turn out to be poems rather than pomes--like this one.

The bunnies are back awwwww! My nose wriggles each time I read they are eating.....Gee it's annoying...wriggling nose I mean.
