do you think babies choose who they want their mum to be before they are conceived?

According to popular belief, God chooses a baby for a mama.  Whether you get a girl or a boy, whether they get you or you get them is not as important as how you are together as a family. In the end, all that matters is whether you have been the best mom in the world to them and whether you feel that your children are God's best gift to you till you die. All the best.
