I know that sea water in your eyes hurt but I heard a rumor that when you are completely underwater in the sea and you open your eyes, it does not hurt. Is that true because I have always been too much of a chicken to try it myself.

  1. As far as the sea goes, I'm not exactly sure, but here's my experience with water.

Ocean: Stings my eyes every time. My eyes just can't take the salt, and after maybe 15 seconds of holding my eyes open, they'll become bloodshot red and cry for the entire day (it sucks)

Pool: Chlorine you can build a tolerance to. Most people can go between 15 minutes to a few hours before they get any noticeable problems.

Lakes: Most lakes are so muddy or cloudy that I don't want to open my eyes in fear I'll catch some horrible horrible disease that will eat my brains out. (Yes, this does exist, but it goes through your nose not your eyes...)

I've never been in a sea, seeing as how there are no seas near me (North America) but I will suggest that you try goggles or closing your eyes. I'll only keep my eyes open in a regulated pool.

  2. i tried it, it doesnt hurt but you cant see very well!
