Do your nipples go back to the same colour after giving birth?

b4 i got pregnant mine were a light pinky colour.. and have now gone to a dark brown during my pregnancy...do they go back to normal after giving birth or stay like this all the time?

41 weeks +1... and getting impatient , lol

  1. Mine didn't but that's because I nursed and then got pregnant again right away.  We plan to have another soon after our second is born.  So, we will see if it ever happens for me.

    Other mothers have told me that they do return in color, but it's not the exact same color as before - still darker.  

    The size of the nipple also doesn't usually return I have been told by friends.  The breast itself shrinks down which does decrease the nipple size too, but the porportion of the breast that is nipple stays the same.  In other words, the nipple still covers a great area of the breast than it did before pregnancy.

    Not sure if they are a representative group or if that was just their luck.


  2. yea mine did unless u plan on breast feeding then they may not.

  3. Once the hormones responsible for it are gone out of your system.  If you plan on nursing, they won't until you wean.
