NO, it's a disadvantage. Anything that has a fast growth rate cannot store enough energy to be really efficient.

It costs more to produce any kind of ethanol for fuel use than you can recover as a recoverable energy source. If it wasn't for government subsidies, fuel grade ethanol wouldn't even being produced.

What is needed is a greater switch over to nuclear power that can be used for electric generation for transportation. Environmentalists want to keep that from happening too since they fear nuclear energy.

Eucalyptus plants are fast growing plants and can be grown in all climatic conditions. The bio-energy is extracted from these plants as they are more suitable for the production of cellulose ethanol. The plantation of these plants helps in CO2 absorption from environment as they are ever green. However, the plantation of these plants make the land dry due to over evapo-transpiration of ground water.
