Do zebra fish need a heater?

I was thinking of buying a glofish and was wondering if they needed a heater. And a glofish is the same as a zebra fish only it glos.

  1. I assume you're talking about zebra danios.   They prefer schools of at least 6, and different types of these small danios can be kept together as a school if you'd like a variety.

    Water Temperature: Every kind of fish has its own temperature preferences. In general, GloFish® fluorescent zebra fish can live in a fairly wide temperature range, anywhere from 64-86°F (18–30°C), but prefer temperatures of 72-80°F (22-27°C). Depending upon the temperature of the room in which your aquarium is maintained, a water heater may be helpful to maintain this temperature range.   3. Zebra fish actually prefer cooler water than a lot of tropical fish.  So as long as your house is kept at at least 65 degrees year round and they are the only fish in the tank it will be fine without a heater.
