Swansea City forward, Stephen Dobbie revealed that he was optimistic about reclaiming his place in the starting-eleven under new manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, after being pushed onto the bench last season by former boss, Brendan Rodgers.
The Scottish International managed to make just 2 starts for the Swans during the prevenient term, and was consequently loaned out to Blackpool in March, 2012. However, he finished his disappointing 2011/12 campaign on a high, netting 6 goals in just 10
appearances for the Seasiders.
Earlier, Dobbie played an important role in helping the Welsh club ascend to the top division of English football. During the Swans 2010/11 season in the Championship, he scored 11 goals in 47 appearances, which included a strike in the play-off final against
Reading.
However, the 29-year old struggled to keep his place in the side under Rodgers, since the arrival of the club’s record signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Graham.
With the arrival of new manager at the helm, Dobbie unravelled his ambition of reclaiming his slot in the team, and believed that he deserved to get more chance at Swansea last season.
While talking to reporters, he said: “The season we were promoted [2010-11], I thought I got a fair crack at it and showed the fans what I can do. Then I got isolated last season. I've come back fit, hungry and ready to show the manager I deserve a part
in this team.”
Dobbie made a strong point in front of Laudrup on Saturday, as he fired a quick fire hat-trick in his side’s pre-season friendly match against Port Talbot Town, which the Premier League outfit won by a hefty 5-0 score-line.
The player has still got one year left on his contract with the Welsh side. He has reportedly drawn interest from Blackpool and Celtic, who are believed to be preparing a bid for him in order to prize him out this summer.
However, the forward revealed that he had no intentions of decamping from Swansea as yet, and vowed to continue playing for them for as long as he can.
“For me it's all about showing I can play in this team and in this league because I believe in myself that I can.”
