  1. Oh man... that is a really tough question for me.  I'm the kind of fan that never watched the classic series (never knew it existed) and was only recently introduced to the 2005 revival (as in... about a year, year and a half ago).

Eccleston was my "first Doctor" and I thought he was absolutely fantastic (which he was).  He was rough, he was deeply troubled, he was sometimes mean and even manipulative, but he had such a sense of delight and humor about him as well.  He was severely damaged after the Time War and Rose was SO good for him, particularly in the episode "Dalek".  I think his best episodes were "Empty Child/Doctor Dances".  I was just about as happy as he was when "just this once, everybody lives!!"

As a new Who fan, I was extremely resistant to the next Doctor.  I hadn't gone through the previous 8 and wasn't accustomed to the cycle of regeneration.  I was prepared to keep Tennant in a distant second forever and ever.

And then I watched a LOT of the 10th Doctor... and found out how extremely likable he really is.  Almost manic in his joy and rage, talking at 100 miles an hour, bouncing off the walls, and that adorable arrogance!  His enthusiasm is infectious and all of his little quirks are just wonderful.  I could go on forever about why I loved nearly every episode, but I won't.  Lastly, I admit... I was a BIG fan of his romance with Rose.  I know, a lot of people hated it, hated HER, thought she was absolutely vile, selfish, useless, whatnot, but I never saw her that way. I think she really did make him better and it showed through series 3 and 4.

So... rather grudgingly... I have to say that 10 is now my favorite.  But 9 remains absolutely fantastic and will always be "my first".

  2. I prefer David Tennant's Doctor because I think he's absolutely bursting with charisma and personality.  He can be hilariously funny and also very dark and serious when he has to be.  I don't think Christopher Eccleston would have quite the same effect on me if he had been playing the Doctor in scenes like the one at the end of season 3 with the Master or the final scenes with Donna in season 4.  I think Christopher Eccleston was still excellent as the Doctor but when he regenerated into the Tenth Doctor - from the moment we got that "Barcelona" line - I thought 'd**n - he's brilliant already!!'

  3. I prefer David Tennant (the series 2 Doctor) because although Christopher Eccleston was funny, David Tennant is funnier, David Tennant is a better actor to me. He makes the storylines of Doctor Who perfect for his character. He is also very good at showing emotion whilst he is acting some good examples of this are in Doomsday and The Doctor's Daughter. But I also love in the episode the Sound of Drums I just love how he says 'In the mountains of Solace and Solitude, there stood the citadell of the Time Lords' it just makes me feel inspired. And it also makes me wish that Gallifrey was real but that's only part of the point.

But David Tennant is also VERY hot.

  4. I'd say Tennant as he is hilarious. I just love his accent.

  5. There will never be a better Doctor than Tom Baker.
