Doctor examines Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant’s fractured finger – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant got his fractured finger examined by another doctor on Wednesday.
Bryant’s index finger got fractured during Week 14 game against Cincinnati Bengals, when Bengals cornerback Adam Jones hit him in the fourth quarter.
On Monday, a hand specialist diagnosed the fracture. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett informed that they will announce whether Bryant will go through surgery or play the game after meeting a specialist.
According to the Associated Press, Garrett said on Monday:
"Well, it's a medical decision first and foremost. There has been no definitive diagnosis of what he has and what his availability will be.”
Bryant is consulting with another doctor to get an opinion on his injury.
Garrett and all the teammates want Bryant to play, but they all are waiting for his medical reports.
The coach said:
"We just need to get more medical information about how to handle the situation right now, the best way to handle it for now and for the future."
He added:
"He's going to give himself and our team every chance possible to play in and continue to play this season.”
If Bryant misses the game, Garrett will have an important decision to make regarding bringing in a replacement for Week 15 game against Pittsburgh Steelers.
Garrett said:
"I think like with any decision, there are a lot of people who are involved in the decision,"
Kevin Ogletree or Miles Austin will get the chance to start the next three games, if Bryant goes through surgery.
Bryant is one of the best players in the franchise. He has 75 receptions for 1,028 yards and scored nine touchdowns this season. In two years of his career, he has received more than 1,000 yards for the first time.
When asked about his final decision about Bryant, Garrett said:
“We'll continue to evaluate that today and get some more information today and try to make our best decision going forward."
Cowboys have won seven and lost six games, and are tied with Washington Redskins for 2nd position in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
