I need a Family Medicine doctor in the Frisco/Little Elm area that offers Saturday appointments. Healthwise in Frisco used to but recently discontinued and I am at a loss. Does anyone know of any physican that offers weekend appointments?

  1. The CareNow in Frisco on Main (in front of Albertson's) is great.  Yes, they do charge a bit higher than my co-pay ($30 instead of $20, but it's worth it for the convenience), but they're open until 10 pm during the weekdays (which means I don't have to take the day off to take my kids to the doctor) and until 8 pm on Saturday AND until 5 pm on Sunday.  You can even do web check in & they'll call you when it's best for you to come in (based on how long it will take you to get there).

When my 17 yo had bronchitis in April, they made follow-up phone calls to see how she was doing, if the meds worked, etc.  I've NEVER had that experience with a traditional doctor.  Each time we've gone (at least 5x now), we've always seen a doctor and Dr. Hernandez-Sheppard is great.

  2. Metro Urgent Care in Frisco is wonderful...they are on the corner of Main and Teel in the same shopping center as Kroger.  We have taken our kids and ourselves there for years.  They require no appointment and only will charge for "urgent care" or "emergency care" if you specify it, regular visits are just charged to insurance as a normal visit.  Dr. Bauer and Dr. Disraeli are great.  They are open on both Saturday and Sunday, which is very convenient since kids always seem to get sick on the weekends, never on weekdays.

We have never had an appointment and have used them for years.  Sometimes we get another Dr. that is good there but "chatty", but he is still knowledgable.  We have BCBS and they preferred providers on our insurance, I think their office takes most insurance.

I have also heard very good things about the new CareNow on the corner of Main and 423 (by Sonic/Albertsons), but we have never gone there personally.  But I think they charge insurance as "urgent care" which is usually a higher co-pay.
