Doctor or Psychiatrist?

Hello, I need a little help here..Maybe some of you can help. Recently my dads health has taken a downward spiral and I'm not sure what to do. he's been to several hospitals and they can't find anything wrong with him, I suggest maybe he go see a psychiatrist but he said they will suspend his captains license until they get a psychiatric evaluation. Does anyone know if this is true, or what other options I have to help him get better??

I would not take the risk of him losing his license if I were you cos he may indeed have a physical health issue rather than a mental one.

This year I had 2 seperate opinions on a health issue - 1 said "Why are you here when there is nothing wrong with you". No 2 said - something not right here, I need to have a look inside.

I am now recovering after major surgery from what was a serious bone injury behind my knee cap.

You are clearly discussing the problem with Dad. Ask him what direction he feels might best help him & see where that takes you.

Failing that, repost this question in the Health section.

There is nothing that you can do. Doctors are stupid and if it is a mental issue then he will have to deal with it in his own time. just be there for him and do not force the issue. If he is having a problem that he has to deal with. he will come to you when the time is right. for a medical problem only he knows what is going on with him and he will have to seek out the answers that he needs ( doctors, shrink,ect..) like i said when he needs you he will come to you or he will seek out the answers himself.
