I went to the doctor for my Anxiety attacks/Bi-polar/depression. He put me on Xanax XR 3mg, 4 times daily, 20mg Focalin XR daily, 60mg of restoril and 100 mg of trazadone for sleep. I was just concerned about the Xanax dosage it seems to be high, but I feel no effects from it. Most people I talk to gave problems with just 2mg of xanax. I also Take 2 Xanax in the morning and 2 at night. I was just concerned about the med dosage. Thanks

  1. DOn't worry about the Trazadone.  It's the most common prescription sleep aid around, and it's been around over 40 years.  (Used to be used for depression, but only in higher dosages than you're taking.)

However, that's a LOT of Xanax, unless you are in a typically acute phase.

This had better be a psychiatrist prescribing, and not just any old MD.

In any event, starting someone one a benzodiazepine (like Xanax) should include a plan to get off it as it is addicting.

Talk to your psychiatrist .... or find one, now.

  2. Are you saying that you take xanax XR- 3mgs. 4 x a day? Plus you are taking regular Xanax also???! That is an extremely high dosage. Xanax can be very addictive, but it can help you with the panic. I would call the doctor and ask again just to make sure. Docs can make mistakes, too.
