i am very confused!

i had a scan last wednesday and the lady said that i have several cysts on both of my ovaries. She said it looked like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. So i assumed i had it. But she then said i had to have this confirmed by a blood test for my hormones.

So i had my blood tests and those are normal.

does that mean i still have polycystic ovary syndrome? I cant get to see my doctor until late next week and i want to know.

I have had pain in my lower stomach for a while and thats what got me the scan. i also have pain sometimes during s*x. I do not have facial hair like a beard or anything like that. i have depression and am very moody. Ive had depression for years though. I dont know what other information you will need but please tell me if i have PCOS and if not what are the cysts and how will it affect me?

I really am worried.

Oh im 20 no childrena nd wanting children one day so this would be great to know if i ca have children

PLEASE HELP ME!

many thanks all.

  1. Sorry - we cannot help you - we are not doctors - any advice given here would be foolhardy at best and negligent in the highest order.

You need to calm down and wait until you see your doctor and the test results.

  2. cyst formation on the surface of ovaries is a normal occurrence.  A cyst forms around an egg, and when it is time to release the egg, the cyst ruptures propelling the egg toward the fallopian tube.  PCOS, is diagnosed when too many cysts are formed as opposed to one at a time, but it is still a normal thing.  If your hormonal balance is normal, I wouldn't worry too much about it.  It's possible the doctor could help a great deal with the discomfort by putting you on a low dose birth control pill, discuss it with him.  But for now, don't worry, it doesn't change anything and it certainly doesn't do you any good.

  3. Just to reassure you a little, even with PCOS it may still possible for you to have children.

An old friend of mine had PCOS but had 2 kids.

My wife has PCOS but we have a gorgeous little girl.

  4. Relax! Many women have cysts on their ovaries and they're perfectly harmless.

If you're on birth control pills, your blood test could false due to hormones in the pill. Some women have PCOS and no hormonal imbalance. My sister has PCOS and no beard or anything - and she has three lovely children and had no problem conceiving.

The best thing to do if you're diagnosed with PCOS is make sure you're a healthy weight. I wouldn't worry about the cysts - just wait and hear what your doctor has to say.
