  1. I recently graduated from medical school and I know exactly what you're going through. Fortunately, my dad is also a physician and knows first hand how much we have to study as medical students and he was able to explain this to my mom. The best way to let your friends and family know about your ordeals is to let them in on it. When you talk to them, don't hold back if you feel like complaining about the amount of work you have to do. Let them know just how much you have to read and how much time you have to do it in. Point to the amount of studying that others are doing to prove that you're not just some s****t who is doing this to herself on purpose. They should be able to clearly see that this is what is required of you.

  2. I think you should abandone med school

  3. You may have to sit you Mom down and tell her the facts of life regarding med school.  It's a full-time job and a half, and the studying never ends.

Tell her you value the family, but at this time you need to concentrate on your studies.

Friends?  Tell them you'll see them in 4 years.  Your social life takes a back seat to school.  It has to.  Your med school class is your new family and friends - you're going to be spending a lot of time with them.

You may try to schedule in a little bit of family time to let them know you still care, but this is just the start of the sacrifices you'll make to be a physician.

    Good luck.

  4. I Suggest You take " Family Counselling " along with your family members; inparticularly your mother. There are many good Psychiatrists. It will be of great help to all of You instead of You just getting any one-sided advice.

Good Luck With Your School Studies !

  5. Well, first thing is I didn't live at home!

Move out move out move out!!!!!

Normal people don't understand how much studying you need to do during medical school.  It's a full time job, plus another full time job on top of that.  Explain that as best you can.

    And then, move out.
