  1. Varies, if you come in through ER or if you are sent by your physician, or come in as a same day admission from surgery.

  2. I am an RN in the hospital.

    1.  get settled in room

    2.  RN does admission assessment (asks alot of questions that you have already answered so be patient with her)  it is good to always carry a recipe card with your current medications so they know what you are on.

    3.  The RN then looks at the Doctors orders and initiates ex:  starts IV and fluids if needed, Catheter if needed, obtains specimens if needed.

    4.  Radiology takes for x-rays if needed

    5.  Lab comes to draw blood.

If you could give me more info as to the reason you are in the hospital I could be more informative but this is standard protocol.

  3. It depends on why you're there.  Usually it goes something like this:

1- Get taken to and oriented into your room.

2- Get butt naked and don the ever fashionable hospital gown.

3- RN does her admission assessment.

4- RN gets the IV's, foleys, etc. going.

5- Labs, x-rays, CT, MRI...depending on what your MD orders.
