Doctors officially clear Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano to resume duties – NFL News
Doctor of Indianapolis Colts’ ill coach Chuck Pagano Dr Larry Cripe has officially confirmed now that the coach is medically cleared to return on the sideline to resume the coaching duties.
Earlier, the doctor was quoted in a number of media reports saying that Chuck could return to action any time he wants, which should be determined by him and Colts owner Jim Irsay.
So far there is no official statement from the team when they expect back Pagano on the sideline but some media sections have projected 30th of this month to be the date for formal return of the official.
Now doctors have officially told the Associated Press that the coach has been treated for Leukaemia and that he can return to resume his duties.
"Medically, I see no reason he cannot come back when he's ready to try and come back. Coach has done a great job with this, and I trust him."
He added:
"I love that guy and I would love to see him in person on the sideline. To me, the bottom line is that he's done what he needed to do, and he's done it with the clear goal that he wants to be coaching as soon as he can."
Both Irsay and Pagano are now expected to announce further developments, as doctors have all cleared the coach. The Colts are due to face the Houston Texans in the last game of the season on 30th and if the owner and coach agree to the date, Pagano
will be back as a head coach of the team.
A day earlier interim coach Bruce Arians said that he expected the situation to be clearer by next week. He nevertheless hopes that he is back by the final game of the season, to accept the coaching role from him.
The Colts are facing the Kansas City Chiefs in a crucial game this week. They are in a must-win situation to confirm their playoff berth. If somehow Pagano is able to be on the sidelines, whether officially or unofficially on the day, it must be a great
boost to the players’ confidence.
