Dodgers’ general manager Ned Colletti discussing with Scott Boras for Korean lefty Ryu Hyun-jin
Los Angeles Dodgers remain optimistic to sign Korean international left-hander Ryu Hyun-jin as they have started talking with his agent Scott Boras. The Dodgers' general manager Ned Colletti and Scott Boras are sorting out some way which will probably bring a little stability in their two-way talks.
"No, we just feel closer to Sunday, I don't ever feel we're close to anything until it's done,” Colletti quipped and somewhat told the media about Dodgers’ management’s potential intentions to bring the Korean prodigy.
Later Ryu’s agent Boras said and talked to the media with quite confidence as well, "We think very highly of Ryu, We've offered a shorter-term contract (proposal to the Dodgers) as an alternative. We think that helps them. And it helps us because we think his value will only go up."
Dodgers’ GM was recently busy attending 2012 Major League Baseball’s annual Winter Meetings in Nashville where he also talked to several reporters about the potential new signings. During his media talks, he remained positive on bringing Korean star Ryu into the Dodgers’ franchise next season.
"I think there's still a lot of due diligence going on, I know I use that phrase – due diligence – a lot. Conversations are getting deeper. But I don't know that people are quite ready to make their choice and see if they can narrow it down," Colletti said of agents sorting out the options for their free-agent clients as well on chances to bring Zack Greinke in the Dodgers’ roster next season.
Boras, who is taking care of Ryu’s matters to make sure he does arrive in the Major League in the next season, is considered one of the most experienced sports’ agents. He also handled another international free agent right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka and successfully signed his deal with the Boston Red Sox.
Some experts say that Boras is the right man for Ryu as these experts are also hoping a potential deal with the Dodgers. Boras on the other hand, has already explained many teams who are looking to sign Ryu that his client is ready to start at the Number three position.
