    new york is ny

  4. NJ stands for New Jersey.  The large city of Newark, with the international airport, is in New Jersey.  That city is very close to New York City, and there are many mass-transit connections between Newark and New York.  This is why travelers to New York will often use Newark's airport for arrivals and departures.

HOWEVER, there IS a town called Newark in New York.  It's a fairly small town between Rochester and Syracuse.

  5. since when was there a "J" in new york?

    NY-New York

    NJ-New Jersey

Newark is a city in new jersey, but its across the river from Manhattan and because of that many people fly into Newark and take cabs into New York. Newark isnt that great of a city, though
