This is what it says in my book. Shouldn't 1 kelvin = 274 degree celcius?

  1. 0 °C = 273.15 °C

    1 K = 1 °C

  2. your book means an incremental degree in kelvin.  the kelvin scale and celsius scale have the same size of degrees, they are just shifted from each other by about 273 degrees.

I think you just misinterpreted what the book was saying.

  3. Kelvin = Celsius+273.15

    therefore 1kelvin=1-273.15 = -272.15 degree celcius
