i think that 150,000 is more than middle class (obama says up to 150,000 middle class and over 250,000 upper class). i would say anything up to 70 thousand is middle calss.

  1. depends where you live in the country.

  2. I agree with McCain's answer that $5,000,000/ yr makes you rich.

Where you live has a big impact on what class your income puts you in.

Lower, middle, & upper is way over simplifying. If you run a home based business $150,000 working 4-5000 hours a year as a plumber or electrician not to many will look at you as upper class. If you are a lawyer or real estate agent making the same annual income people are likely to see you as middle class.

  3. depends on what units you  are using. 150,000 dollars us is a lot more than zimbabwean even after devaluation! Anyways middle class is as middle class does. So if you look down on your working class sod you'se a middle class b*****d anyway even if he's earning twice your pay.

  4. $150,000 is a lot in Kentucky, but you would be homeless in southern California.

  5. I think this amount is based on a very broad perspective of people and where you live.  $150,00 a year would be alot if you lived in Kentucky or Louisana but not alot if you live in California.  I agree 70,00 a year would help me greatly but I would still have a hard time living well on that amount.  And when he said UP To 150,00.  Most low income make less than 20,000 a year.  I think he has a very fair number in mind.

  6. I agree with Senator Obama. $150k for a family of four is middle class. McCain copped out and wouldn't even give a number, he just said he doesn't want to raise taxes on anyone. Of course, he's leaving out that he'd renew the Bush tax cuts that disproportionately favored the richest 1% of all Americans.

    VOTE OBAMA in '08!!

  7. i was watching and i am pretty sure he said "joint" incomes of $150,000 , and he also said $150,000 is not alot in some areas, and a pretty good amount for other ares.

    heres how it hits me

i make $16/hr welding and fitting my azz off, (40hr weeks x 52 weeks)= 2080 working hours in a year. soo....

$16/hr x 2080 = 33,280, before taxes, after for me usually after fed. and state. its about 76% off my check left about , ao after taxes about,$25,293 , now that is only for 40hour work weeks,

I am THAT guy, I will never turn down overtime, i don't live to work, i work so my family can live. i made close to 60,000 counting 2 bonuses, (which were higher than other peoples)

long story short, i put in ALOT of overtime, and i am just barely getting by, my wife works 40 hrs, but after daycare and a whole mess of things that are just the cost of living, where i am from 150,000 joint IS NOT RICH, if i happened to have aspouse who made what i made, i would "cought up" on bills NOT pay check to pay check, and that is a pay check i can't let Obama get his hands on, i plan on working hard and before long moving up and learning and making more money, i am willling to put in the time and effort for more money, so why does obama want to penlalize me, on the behalf of other who just don't have the drive to be responsible, don't get me wrong ther will always be people who need help, and i am all for that, but man $150,000 i would say is maybe upper middle clas, but definetly not a good start on taxing people. hey i used to make 15,000 a year at mcD's i just have that drive, from STEMS TO GEMS, is what i am after..

  8. "middle class" is a very broad catagory, Millionaires are still middle class, as are school teachers.

  9. I would be more with your thinking.  When he said that - I was like "In what world???"  LOL   I would say 100,000 total family income at the MOST is middle class.
