Does $26,000 sound about right to get my private pilot, comm, and instrument ratings?

Its a Cessna Pilot Center using the CBI Kit. They gave me a brochure saying the private would be $10,926, the instrument would be $6463, and the comm $6496.

  1. From my experience of flying schools they always under-quote on price to encourage the pupil to sign up for lessons.   People learn at different rates; a near-genius may go solo very quickly, so the schools claim that as an average, low price.  The schools would be more honest to quote nearer double your $26k price as an average.

As the other answerer suggests, to quote an unrealistically low price is as near to being a scam as  makes no difference.

  2. That may be a correct figure for single engine Commercial/Instrument. Going multi-engine will cost you considerably more. Multi-engine instrument is a separate rating.

  3. You PPL=$10000 that would be +-45 hours

Your com =$6000 you need another 150 hours.

Find out how many hours is included in that "com", its most prob only study meterial, ground school and a few other things

  4. Make sure it is not some sort of SCAM. Because these days, most flight school charge you almost $50,000 for Private, Instrument, Commercial and CFI ratings.

  5. if it includes all that, check it out first.

  6. No, not at all. that is very low. More like about $35-40,000.
