  1. Slug, it also depends on if you are using a pump or a semiauto.

  2. I have fired them both and they both will knock the snot out of you... The slug has maybe a little more recoil but not by much...... Brand??? They all have pretty big recoil..... If you want something real powerful then drop by the sporting goods stoe and look over the 3 inch buckshot and slugs..... On the side of the box you will see a specification thats FPS or muzzle velocity.... My 2 3/4 inch stuff has ratings of 1450 to 1650 FPS..... if the 3 inch stuff your looking at has ratings of 1800 FPS its a sure bet this stuff has got some kick

Look this Remington 3 inch Slugger High Velocity slugs over....

Also check out some of this Brenneke stuff.... Some of there 3 inch slugs have over 3000 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle...

  3. Mgnums all have significant recoil. I have no experience with slugs or buckshot as I have never needed them but I do prefer the winchester supreme shotgun ammo for turkey hunting. I use remington in my 270 rifle. Its all about what the gun likes to shoot.

  4. I'd go with the slug, also there is a 3 1/2" magnum and I can tell you from personal experience that it kicks much more than any three inch round!!

As for which is more powerful for brands - it depends there are several brands - Remington, Federal, Winchester, Brienike(spelling) to name a few and the dynamics on each depends on the slug and the type of slug and the weight.
