We're thinking of going with the classic plan and with food and other stuff,it comes out to 3500.

  1. If I am reading it correctly, it sounds as if all of the following are included:

rental of the facility for 8 hours,

linens, including chair covers and sashes

    food

    non-alcoholic drinks

    banquet manager

    security

Tell your fiance that this is a great deal!  If you were to divide these items up and figure the cost of them separately, you would definitely be spending more!  For most halls here in my area, the rental charge alone would be $1300 and that's just for 6 hours!  The chair cover and sash rentals would be $300, the security would be $25 per hour, and the food & drink could be $2500 by itself!  You are quite possibly saving $2000-2500!

    I'd go for it!

  2. It seems good but it sounds like that is the place you like so you should go with it! I mean things could be worse because my great uncle was out over 5 grand for my cousin's rehersal dinner!!! Thank God he didn't pay for the rest of that wedding I mean It was way out there! But Like I was trying to say, 3500 isn't too much when it comes to you being happy on YOUR wedding day!

  3. I assume 3500 is in dollars

It compares favorably with the £5500 we are spending for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary lunch for 72.

However, only spend what you can really afford at this time!

You have the rest of your lives to pay ff the bills plus interest.

Do not start married life with a stone around your necks.

For half the price you quote you could have an excellent celebration - and food + drinks in th USA are much less expensive than in the UK

    Good luck

  4. That's $70 per person. That's a bit more than normal. But if that's everything for the wedding, including the ceremony, flowers, etc. then it's a good deal.

  5. $8,900~~

    for 175 people included:

food, booze, linens, cake, reception site

    hope that helps

  6. that's pretty good. I'm spending $6700 with about 50 - 60 guests. (althou that includes every last detail of my wedding)  And I did a lot of things on the cheap. So I don't know how you did it but tell your fiance that is pretty cheap!!!

    (and a gorgeous place)

  7. It is very nice but is there a reason you cannot go cheaper for 50 guests? If it was more than 50 guests I would spend the money but I to think you can spend less on a different place but remember its your wedding and you have to be happy.

  8. For that type of a place, yes.  I managed to find a really nice hall that only cost $100 to rent the first hour and $70 for each additional hour, and then caterers who could provide servers and all the food you could possibly want for only $26 per guest, but I really had to think outside of the box to find them.  When  I looked at places that just did weddings and special events, the prices in my area were a lot higher than what you're paying.

  9. You could probably find cheaper but that isn't outrageous. I think the 250+ guests for $2000 person must have missed a zero on the bill, because you could barely feed people McD's food for $8 a person.

  10. Not if they are taking care of the food, china, tablecloths, staff, cleanup, entertainment...(maybe) The more you get include in the price the better...not a whole lot of places can do that, and the hubby cant argue with a bargain...so itemize it all, show him how much it all is separately...he'll come around! Happy Marriage to you two!

  11. Depends on your area.  My wedding is $80 a head so your is actually $10 a head cheaper than mine and $80 is considered a great deal in my area (Bergen county NJ)

  12. If the food is good... thats a bargain!

Whats the point in saving a few bucks if you dont like the place as much? Sure there are cheaper places out there, but this place is still in the "very reasonable" category.

When you have a good feeling about a place, dont let it go!

  13. This is the fourth time I've answered a similar question about this place (must be popular down in TX) and I've always said the same thing:

If you like the location and it's absoultely breathtaking then go for it. It's not a great deal, but it's not awful either. A lot of venues will provide all of that for free as long as you meet a food/drink minimum ($3500 should do it).

    An addition to your question:

I would say including food, etc. in the end you're looking at closer to $4000 to $4500. Unless you already have it set up, but $24 per person for everything beyond what that place provides seems really low.

  14. That looks like a completely reasonable price to me. You get everything in private, and it looks like they take care of everything. We're paying more than that just for a meal in a restaurant for 40 people.

  15. I think it is.  Im paying about 2 grand more for a 250+ wedding including food, decorations, waiter service, drinks, clean up, appetizers, you name it!  Look around before you sign anything, because if you do and then later find something better and less pricey, then you'll regret it.

  16. That is a good plan given what is included
