  1. AC does run gas down. If you roll down your window you're still burning gas but not as much.

  2. yes it does

  3. depends on your speed, slow stop and go traffic I keep my windows down.  If you are going 40 mph or more turn on the AC, having your windows down creates drag in your car from the air blowing in and hitting the inside of your back window.  Picture a parachute opening and slowing down from the air blowing into it.

  4. The a/c compressor increases the load on the engine so it does increase gas consumption slightly.

  5. I dont really know I have heard both yes and no... I can tell you this... if it is too hot i am using my air conditioner and dont worry about gas usage... especially if you are getting at least 50% increase in mpg or better say 100mpg plus ... interested?

  6. Living in Arizona, I've been using my AC everywhere I go. For about a week I did not use AC at night and I rolled my windows down... I couldn't believe how much gas I saved! I suggest rolling down your windows. Although, you have to roll down both your front and back windows because of the resistance.

If you're going over 45mph you actually save gas when using your AC.

  7. Using the air conditioner in your car certainly increase your fuel consumption.  The question is, how much.  In today's cars, the air conditioning compressors are much more efficient than those of the 1970's and 1980's, and it take much less energy to turn them.  In fact, in the 1960's, 4 cylinder, and even many 6 cylinder cars were not offered with air conditioning, because it was too much additional load on the engine.  You usually needed to order the v8 engine if you wanted air.  Today, the effect is probably only one to three miles per gallon.

  8. no it does not,ac in your car takes away power from your car battry.

  9. yes

  10. Yes, the ac compressor puts a load on the engine..But, having the windows down puts a serious amount of wind drag on the vehicle esp in high speeds. So, in truth, you will burn more gas having the windows down as opposed to having the AC on.

  11. i think it does.

for best efficiency, use AC only when going at high speeds, like on the highway or expressway or something. roll down your windows when your on local roads and subdivisions and such.
