I have been proposed to by my long standing boyfriend and I've been told by a mutual friend that he is already married. He says no but I want proof one way or the other.

  1. Honestly I don't think there is a free way to do it. Marriages are public record, so you can look it up but it will cost something. You can go to the court house and request a record usually around $6 to $10 (considering where you live, it could be more).

  2. In my state of CT we have an online service (free) that does not show marriage proof but it does provide divorce proof.  The quicker answer is to have the boyfriend provide proof of divorce or the mutual friend provide proof that he is still married.

  3. If you believe he is married, go meet his "Wife" and ask. It's always OK to get the truth. But if you don't know who his wife is, that means he probably not married. :)

  4. If you are worried about this you have bigger problems....You should ALWAYS stand by your boyfriend...not your friends...don't you think he would tell you the truth about something this big?  If not then you should not be with someone you can't trust...but back to your question...you can find out by calling the county courts where he has lived and they can tell you if there has ever been a marriage license for anyone with his name.....Good luck

  5. Follow him home, no wait what was thinking just take him at his word.

  6. check on the web

  7. This isn't a good way to start off in a marriage.

  8. The city in which he would have been married will have a public record of their marriage certificate if he is married.  You MAY have to pay a small fee to view the records but if you want to know the truth I'd be willing to pay it.

  9. Ask him for his divorce decree.  If he can't provide it, refuse to marry him until he does.  If you are getting married, you should be comfortable enough to ask him yourself instead of being sneaky about it.

  10. You can go around to all the courthouses that you suspect he might have married and/or divorced in and ask for the information.  It's a matter of public record.  If you don't want to do that or aren't certain where to go, you'll have to pay a service for the information.  I think you need to take a moment to reflect on your situation.  You're trying to find out how to investigate whether this man who has proposed to you is married or not.  If you really believe that you can't trust this man you shouldn't marry him.  Tell him what you've been told and ask him whether it's true.  He'll either tell you he's married or he'll say no.  Body language will give him away if he's lying.

  11. Go to the Clerk of Courts office where you live and tell them what you are looking for.  It is free.

  12. check to see if he has a ring on his finger.

if you have doubts, then dont do it.

dont you think u should get to know him and his family before you agree to spend forever with him?

why is your friend being the way she is, ? where she getting the info from?

tell her to show you proof,

i assume you know where he lives/works/ and who he associates himself with right?

  13. if you live in the same town it is as easy as checking the public records office , if not my suggestion is , spend the money at least it will be well spent and your questions will be answered.
