  1. Well from my expierece everything on the magnificant Mile is expensive.

The band took a trip there and you will need a good amount of money to eat.

  2. If you don't mind an hour drive go to Wildfire in Glenview or Lincolnshire. They have great Roumanian skirt steak!

  3. Weber Grill

  4. Wildfire, pretty cheap and always good.

  5. Not to be argumentative but Lawry's is not a steak house. As someone who worships at the holy temple of prime rib roasts, I would be deeply troubled to go into a place said to have great prime rib and find only steaks. So I assume that steak-lovers might feel the same. Lawry's is superb, with its many sizes of carved-at-your-table prime rib but there is not a steak in sight there. To see the priced menu (which, oddly, I cannot find on Lawry's own website, listed 2nd below)  go the link below where you'll see a place to click to look at the actual menu (click "On Screen Menu" in little blue box).

I would second the poster who mentioned Ronny's. You get a pound or more of steak, cooked as you like it, for under $15. Though there are many excellent steakhouses in Chicago, I can't think of any other that "isn't going  to cost too much money."

  6. Lawry's is great.

not cheap - sort of medium.

but cheaper at lunch than at dinner.

  7. this is funny but mattsons steak house by ford city.. they are maybe the best u can get for the price.. and its over looked .. u can get the tbone steak baked potato.. garlic bread.. all u can eat salad bar with mac cheese ,, greens and cornbread and rice and desert bar for  $16 that s a deal and its good..

  8. Lawry's Prime Rib.  It's not cheap by any means but it's the cheapest your going to find near the mag mile.  If you want cheap over good you can go to Ronny's Steak House, they are a Chicago landmark but the food is just OK.  Ronny's is a short walk from the mag file.

  9. Definitely. Try Ronny's:

the steaks are delicious and famously huge - it's very "steakhouse on a budget." you'll probably get fries instead of a baked potato, but what you get will be a satisfying meal.

    enjoy chicago!
