  1. all right me too and iplayed for 8 years and i played on the freshman team when i was a freshman and it was fun but i am at a school where your paerents have to be rich in order to be noticed on the team, but i didnt tryout this year and i found out i saved my time,,, but i plkay softball instead, good luck and keep at volleyball you will never know till you try

  2. I DO!!

Do as many club teams & camps as possible. The more you practice, the better you'll be. Start as soon as possible.

You should start about a couple months b4 tryouts.

To practice setting at home, take a volleyball [which would be needed anyway] and set against a wall. If you have a ball at home, then you have no excuse to not be a good setter.

You can practice passing/bumping against a wall 2. Or play w/ some1 else. When you angle, then pass, drop a shoulder. If u r gonna angle 2 ur right, drop ur right shoulder. Same with the left.

    Practice serving against a wall.

Practice attacking [spiking] against a wall. Only Make a small toss, then when u snap ur wrist, make the ball go down, as in bounce 2 the wall. If the ball comes straight bac 2 u, then ur in control.

  3. Work on your serves, practice your hits and your sets. Go to every practice and don't complain about it. Coaches useually look for a person who will pull through for the team, they also look for someone who spends time practicing.

When you try out don't think of it as if like if you don't hit this I'm not going to be on the team. Just relax and have fun playing the game. Just pretend your playing an actual game. It'll help calm your nerves.

  4. I found that consistancy is the key to being a successful volleyball player.  Sure, its great to be able to elevate and spike the ball, and everyone wants a devastating serve, but only the elite veteran player possess skills that allow them to do these things easier than most .  If you concentrate on doing all the little things right (setting, bumping, serving, etc) this will dramatically increase your hand-eye coordination---ask anyone who has played volleyball at a varsity level or better & they will tell you hand-eye coordination is the key to being a dominant player.  I am 6'2'' 170lbs and I could spike/serve the ball harder than someone 100lbs heavier/stronger simply because I have practiced and executed it hundreds of times.

As far as getting into shape:

Any kind of excersizes you can do to strengthen your calves, quads, tri's, and forearms are beneficial.  I would say these muscles are used the most during volleyball.

Stamina is very important---a good drill to do for stamina AND agility is simply setting up two cones 15ft apart and sprinting back and forth.  Acceleration is vital to being in the right place at the right time and this will make you much more nimble after just a few days.

  5. Well, i Just tried out and the thing to do is to try to become friends with players who are pretty much made the team all ready. Mostly seniors. It shows the coaches that if you needed help you could ask one of them or you can work well with other people on the team. Also, just keep a great attitude. As for me, our school got all new coaches and they picked a VERY bad team where most players are now quiting cause they hate eachother but when i played last year i used both of those. Also, making friends with the older grades also makes it more comferting knowing they know what you are going through.
