  1. Yes it does. But the extent of the burn depends on the strength of the acid. By all means be very very careful if are handling Sulfuric Acid, Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid etc. However, the burn in case of citric acid, as present in Lemon is mind and may be used to clean your hands.

  3. There is no definitive answer to the question.  It depends on the acid, its concentration, its temperature, duration of exposure and other factors in the experiment.

    For example, a small amount of hot nitric, hydrochloric or sulfuric acid will burn the skin.  However, a large amount of citric acid from a lemon will not.
