Does Air Force Bases Have Wi-Fi?

Im getting an ipod touch and im moving to Sumter South Carolina, do they have wi-fi there so i can use the internet on the ipod, thanx!

  1. More and more bases are getting it, but only in certain locations.  Example... the base library has wi-fi.  But, you have to go into the library, get a user code, and sit in or near the libary.  The dorms?  Nope, no wi-fi there.  But, there are plenty of internet companies and mobile phone companies that can hook you up.  Some of the community centers do, and they may or may not charge for time usage.

    Best bet... wait till you get there and see what they have.


  2. Sure. At Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada they even have free WiFi in the food court at the Base Exchange.  

  3. I don't know, but I doubt it. The bases probably wants to keep the network secures and will probably just offer wired connections. You could ask them if you would be permitted to install your own wireless router but I doubt they will sanction it

    If they do have Wi-Fi, it will probably be only in certain parts. ie. the Cafeteria
