  1. Air New Zealand has a good and clean aircraft records. They flies to limited destination due to aircraft constraint. However, their coverage is vast for any travelers around the Globe to visit New Zealand magnificent and majestic land in the Southern Hemisphere.

If you have watched the movie "Lord of the Rings Trilogy" what you see is what you get in New Zealand.

I truly enjoy the Maori Warms Hospitality flying on board Air Zealand enroute to Auckland (North Island) or Christchurch (South Island).

  2. pototato... Is referring to the accident when the DC-10 hit Mount Erebus in Antarctica due to a navigation error. The aircraft was 100% servicable immediatly prior to the accident. This was a charter flight not a regular service.

Air New Zealand has an excellant saferty record. You will be fine with them.

  3. The're very safe. One of their aircraft hit Mount Erebus some years back. That was a case where the auto-pilot was changed without telling the captain.

Their aircraft servicing is top notch, they also maintain several other airline's planes including virgin blue.

There were a few issues about 4 years ago where some parts fell off, but it was one of those things were bad luck comes in 3's.

  4. Air NZ has a good reputation for safety.

My dad flies with them every year, and is very pleased with the service.

  5. Absolutely perfectly safe. Their engineering capacity is second to none and has been increased significantly after being downsized a few years ago.

  6. all i know is air newzealand gobbled up and destroyed ansett,so australia should of sent the f-111's in to bomb air newzealand back to the stone age.

  7. 1...yes, very safe airline. Only ever one major crash in Antartica in the 70's....nothing to worry about.

    2. Why would you travel to MEL to HKG via Auckland?? It takes longer to get to Hong Kong from Auckland then it does from Melbourne to Hong Kong (on direct flights)...i hope you got a really good deal otherwise i would be kicking myself!

  8. i have to 100% agree with everyone they have a excellent safety record they hardly ever have problems or crashes, and if you consider the distance they fly they have to be correct, they are like a lot of  the major airlines very good 99.99 % of the time it`s like ba they have a good record and they only have occasinal problems such as the aircraft crashing as one did recently fortunately with no casualities

  9. Its a very safe air craft. The service is good too...Dont worry you wont regret it...

    God luck

  10. Never heard of them being involved in any crashes lately so they must be doing something right.

  11. The airline is really safe.  There was only one incident I remember a long time ago when I think an Air New Zealand DC-10 crashed into a mountain.  Other than that incident, I have heard no issues with this airline.
