Does Al Gore deserve another Nobel prize?

It seems global warming has stopped, and mankind is no longer on the doorstep to oblivion. Without good ol' Al's foresight and action this might never have happened. Does he deserve another prize?

  1. It's Al Gore's hot air and methane loaded flatulence that created any current conditions. But that's ok because he off-set his carbon footprint and turned it into gold.

  2. Even though I hate Al Gore questions, I suppose I'll answer because I also hate leaving misinformation uncorrected.

First off, no dataset shows that the warming has stopped.  Hadley specifically states otherwise

"A simple mathematical calculation of the temperature change over the latest decade (1998-2007) alone shows a continued warming of 0.1 °C per decade."

And even the satellites show the same trend as the surface stations.

Secondly, even if the warming had truly stopped, no, Gore would not deserve any credit because we have not reduced worldwide greenhouse gas emissions.

Thirdly, believe it or not I'm not entirely sold that Gore deserved the Nobel Prize either.  He did do a good job making the science accessible to the public, which I do appreciate, and for that perhaps he deserved the Prize (after all, it was a Peace prize, not a scientific one).  However, the truly deserving body was the IPCC.  I think they deserve more credit than Gore.

  3. Well I do believe he deserves the award of 30 to life hard time and a 300 million dollar fine!

  4. Gore, Gore, he's our boy! If he can't do it, no one...will

  5. Al Gore deserved a Gobel price. George Gobel that is.

  6. No he doesn't, because a lot of his so-called "facts" in Inconvenient Truth have been disproven.

He's complaining about gases, but he spends his time swanning around to other countries in his little plane. How much gas do you reckon that's emitting, eh?

He's just out to make money.

  7. He didn't even deserve the first one. Even if AGW was real, his little movie had tons of mistakes. It looked so ridiculous to see all those lefty, self righteous hollywood elite praising him. Leo DeCapprio looked ridiculous. I bet 90% of all those drove back in SUV's, not that thats bad, but if they're telling us commoners to not drive them, then they shouldn't be either.

EDIT: NASA isn't the only one with satellite data.

EDIT: I know some might target the source I provided (like always) but my source is merely citing information and clearly states where it is from. Let be clear that my source did not come up with the data, but is citing it.

  8. No way... Have you heard of the case in England were a teacher showed it in class and a parent brought him to court.

  9. All right, this is a good question. In my opinion, Al Gore does not deserve another award, but I never deny his contribution to the world, especially in the issue of global warming. Firstly, if he deserve a prize, what about others who had done a lot in other aspects of environment conservation? Do they too deserve a prize each? Then, gobal warming will never end, just the effect maybe prolong or in other word, our doom day will not come so soon. Human population is rising exponentially, so the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere will not decrease. Anyway, thanks for your question.

  10. Nope.

    Global warming hasn't stopped.

  11. No I don't think he deserves another Nobel prize. Let him continue with the global warming work.

  12. Err - he didnt deserve the first one!
