I am planning to buy Revell Models in my local Models shop since I saw Revell models in the internet and they really looked good.

Anyways I am new to this so can I ask IF do you have to paint them and require a glue? or do they come with decals.

And since I am a beginner do they sell a beginners kit for the matter?

  1. Some kits come with the paint needed and some you have to buy paint for.  The basic items usually look much better painted, and the details come as decal sets with the models.  Same with the glue: sometimes the set has glue, and sometimes you need to buy it separately.

It pays to buy decent brushes , glue and paint.  Poor tools make for poor workmanship, and you need all the success you can get early on!

Buy a few modeling mags while you think about WHAT you want to make...  There are several about, and they will give you good tips about how to go about this.  My son has fun with it, and my husband has been an avid scale aircraft modeler since he was a lad.  It's a hobby to share: they often work together, or side by side on different things.

Be patient!  It takes time to do this well, and as has been said before, start with something simpler and work up to the tough stuff as your skills improve.

  2. Just explain to them you are a beginner to modeling and want to start out building easy models and they will set you up with everything you need. There is nothing more satisfying to look at your completed model and think "I built that." Have fun and enjoy your new hobby.

Some model kits such as snap-tite the parts snap together, meaning you put the two parts  and gently  squeeze them  together. If you are just beginning to build models it might be a good idea to start with this type of model kit. That way you don't get discouraged if the part moves after you have glued it in place before the glue dries. There are books that explain model making for beginners.  Also magazines like Fine Scale Modelers are a excellent source for modeling tips and instructions.

Other model kits require glue to hold the parts together. They usually look allot better it you paint them. Just remember not to paint them where they glue to the other parts. You have to realize that they have experienced model makers work on the models they show on the Internet and in their catalogs.. Good Luck and have allot of patience, everyone makes mistakes when they first start to build models.
