  1. I never heard that before.  Many doctors don't know what they are talking about.

  2. The cause or causes of most cases of colitis are unknown, but possible contributing factors include poor eating habits, stress, and food allergies.  Colitis can also be caused by infectious agents such as bacteria.  This type of colitis is often associated with the use of antibiotics, which alter the normal bowel flora and permit microorganisms that are normally held in check to proliferate.

Therefore if you're allergic to Aloe Vera Juice, yes it might cause colitis.

If Aloe Vera Juice give you very loose bowel and is still used for an extensive period, yes it might cause colitis.  Loose bowel over extensive period will change the normal flora of the bowel.

However if aloe is prepared properly, it should not give you very loose bowel.  As a matter of fact, aloe vera is a healing herb and is one of those herbs recommended for the treatment of this condition.

If you have access to aloe plant, you can prepare your own juice.  This is a more palatable way to have aloe

Wash and peal the skin totally from the gel of an aloe leaf.

Dice the gel in a container.

Poor 2 quarts water at room temperature on the diced gel

Allow to soak for 4 hours before start drinking from it.

Drink a glass 3 times per day.

(You may store drink in your refrigerator)

Or you may buy a bottle prepared by reputable manufacturers.

  3. Aloe Vera Juice is actually meant to be healing for colitis.

However, I find it too over-powering and I can’t drink it.

There are lots of c**p ones on the market and only 1 or 2 really good quality ones, so choose wisely.

A naturopath should be able to help you choose a good quality one.

My doctor told me a lot of things that have turned out to be false in relation to colitis, so do your own research.

I was told that diet did NOT help colitis and the only “cure” was medication or surgery.

Luckily I didn’t take his word as law and I did my own research on the subject instead.

The following book has helped me immensely:

“Self Healing Colitis & Crohns” by David Klein, Ph.D.

See more info at the website:

    Good luck.

  4. Aloe should be used only externally.  I know it can make you throw up if you drink it....colitis doesn't sound that far fetched to me.
