Question:

Does America care about global warming?

At least in the EU we can spout semi convincing platitudes about our angst for the planet. Bush can't even do that!

I know that lots of our trans-atlantic cousins do care (Greenpeace, Sierra Club etc.) and they started the whole environmentalist movement. How could they let a glove puppet for big money and oil rule the roost?

A bullet through Hitler's head in 1932 would have saved millions of lives.

  1. Obviously you have not been to Shanghai recently. You should worry less about Americans and more about the eastern Europeans and China. That is where the drastic rise in greenhouse gas emissions are occurring.

  2. In fairness to Americans, please understand that our news is heavily managed and censored.  Many stories are suppressed entirely.  The only way an American can know what's actually going on is to own a shortwave radio, and most don't.

The other thing is our educational system is a shambles.  We were 5th in the industrialized world in the 1960's.  Today we are 26th of 29.

When your see that so many had not heard of Global Warming until the Al Gore movie came out, these two things ought to explain it.  When you see that so many say "the debate is not over", keep in mind that they are probably ten years behind you and just need to catch up.

    **************************************...

JS, that is it exactly!  I have heard it referred to as "privatizing Big Brother".  I knew it gets them around little things like the Constitution and the Geneva Convention.  I did not realize Mussolini thought of it first, but that makes a lot of sense.  It could explain why Joe Kennedy, the Rothchildes, and most of the other tycoons supported the Fascists economically and politically right up to Pearl Harbor.  All I had known was that it made them richer.

  3. Are you threatening President Bush's life with your last statement?  You are equating GWB to Adolf Hitler?  When did Hitler ever pursue the FREEDOM of the people of other countries for their OWN good and that of the world?

The ONLY reason we attacked Iraq was to give Karzai, of Afghanistan, a democratic ally who had access to oil in the neighborhood of Islamic thugs called the Middle East.  Iraq was the lowest-hanging fruit!

A better question would be to ask,

"Do the Indo/Chinese care about globull warming?"

For it is THEY who are doing the MOST damage to the atmosphere due to them not having the technology to "fight" this, i.e. their motorcycle engines are two-strokes.

A bullet through Clinton's head in '95 would have saved us from the political humiliation of having a philandering president with a "taste" for plump interns.  *shrug*

A bullet through FDR's head prior to WWII would have lead to millions of people remaining ALIVE, too, and the U.S. economy may have recovered from the '29 depression even faster!  Are you one of those history re-writers?

  4. I'm British and don't believe global warming is caused by man, but you can't blame millions of people for one moron

  5. Greenpeace was taken over by radical socialists years ago.  Sierra Club is just a group of more of these anti-capitalist hatemongers.

Most Americans don't like the hatred coming from these environmental groups and tend to ignore their many threats.

Unfortunately, many Americans are in on the whole "global warming" scam and will always support socialist advances even though they cause more death and poverty and just plain don't work for the betterment of society no matter how ofter they are tried.

Today, Hitler lives in these environmental fascists.  Hitler was the first environmentalist, so where would these radicals be without his influence?  They keep his legacy alive with things like the "global warming" scare.  He'd be proud of people like Al Gore and others involved in the hoax.

  6. ofcourse they do! everyone should

  7. america only cares about america, they cause more problems in the world than any other country. the aid they give is vastly overshadowed by the destruction theycause.

  8. does America care about anyone else, ??????

  9. Thank you ttommyfunkenstien, I watched "The Great Global Warming Swindle" a  while ago.  Man if more people watched it, they're realize this Man Made Global Warming is a crock.

America's media is biased toward Global Warming being a crisis, and it's irritating.

  10. First I have to give you c**p because you believe every word your highly one-sided euro-media tells you. I have seen the news there and I have see first hand they love to report only negative things about the USA, and you all just eat it up and believe every word. If you went and researched you would see that Bush accepted a bill that goes every bit as far as the EU in curbing greenhouse gases. I think your media forgot to tell you that. The US takes a beating for being smart and not buying into the Kyoto Protocol. What you all fail to realize is that is was set up to give the US a good financial s******g. It would have been foolish for Clinton and his congress to accept it. I applaud them for not accepting it's conditions.

  11. Of course!!  ... BUT the position the US is in is a tricky 1.,,,,US consumes alot of oil. Overly dependent on using it, How could they CHANGE this quickly??? It's hard to do and will take time, It will come.

  12. Sadly, no....and Bush wouldn't know what it was all about if it come up and bit him on the bum!!!

  13. Actually, everyone I know is TREMENDOUSLY concerned about the subject.

Please understand that Bush's approval rating in the US is lower than 30%. He certainly does NOT reflect the mood of the country.

Bush got elected and reelected on the strength of the hype about stopping "global terrorism". What a fricking joke.

I'm hoping the new administration will not give the finger to the rest of the world ever again; on any topic, not just global climate change.

Yeah, a bullet through the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld camp would have saved millions of lives, too.

I'm just hoping Cheney drops dead so Nancy Pelosi becomes Georgie's vice president. Now THAT would be interesting!

  14. Okay 1200 hundred out of 300 million, Boy!... is that a idea sampling or what? I could find that many people to say what ever I wanted.

  15. We are predicted to set a record on Saturday for the latest snow day EVER.

  16. This is just an educated geuss.

about 50% of americains are democrates, and 50%republicains. (some elections are really close)

I don't know what the independent party thinks, but most of the time republicains either don't believe in it, or don't care.

Democrates on the other hand are the 2nd greenest party next to the small and insignificant green group (which duh, are the first)

And most democrates are snared in by Al Gore's lies.

Most of the people where I live don't believe in global warming, but this has been a republican state for a long time, and even the democrates are conservitave!

So, my geuss is anywhere between 40-60%

  17. Only if their beer get warm,,,

  18. I feel that America cares about global warming; however, our current president is too stupid to understand the change in seasons much less global warming

  19. Yes, all but 6% of us:

"Seventy-one percent say that global warming is probably happening, 6 percent believe it is probably not happening..."

    http://www.fightglobalwarming.com/conten...

I believe that there will eventually be tried in Neuremburg-style trials for the current crimes against humanity.  It will be too late by then of course to prevent the bulk of the damage, but the people responsible for misinforming everyone else and delaying world understanding and response are essentially committing genocide, and definitely should be held accountable for their actions.

The evidence against them will continue to pile up over the next few decades.  It's only a matter of time before they're brought to justice.  ExxonMobil executives should be first.  The polticians who accept oil industry payoffs (called "campaign contributions" in the U.S.) should be next.  All of the underlings in the professional denial propaganda machine (think tanks, lobbyists, etc.) should follow.

The biggest emitter at the moment however is China, and their economic and emission growth rate will wipe out savings in developed countries.  They can prevent mistakes such as copying the U.S. "suburb and commute" layout which was built on the now faulty assumption of cheap oil but they are very clear that they have no intention of avoiding our mistakes.

    Edit -

ciscowen - Since scientists predict that 58% of the worlds species could go extinct (and we know it happened to a worse degree than that during the global warming that caused the Permian-Triassic Extinction), in what way is China's "we want to be like you" argument logical?  China's black soot is a huge factor in the warming as well.  Any increase in emissions could kill us all.  That's OK with you, because it sounds fair?

Mista Ricksta - You think George Bush's war was about freedom?  You fell for his marketing pitch?  Wars cause oil price hikes, and the production from Iraq is still severely constraned.  WMDs were a lie and no link between Iraq and terrorism was ever established.  Bush's "War of Terror" was a ploy to increase patriotism to get himself reelected (after all, it worked for Daddy), and a huge gift to Bush's oil industry buddies.  The U.S. Dollar crashed as a result.  We'll be paying the price for decades.

In a single presidency the foundations of the United States Constitution have been seriously undermined:

    - unauthorized, unsupervised and unconstitutional surveillance of citizens

    - denial of due process - indefinite holding of suspects who have not been tried or even formally accused of any criminal charge

    - torture of suspects, in violation of international law

    - covert military action in countries where no war has been declared (Pakistan)

    - assignment of political appointees to government offices to ensure complete unilateral control of all branches and functions of government

    - evading congressional and judiciary probes into administration behavior, including destruction of evidence

What led to those changes, and what form of government ultimately results?

Former Columbia University Professor Robert O. Paxton defines fascism's essence as:

    1....a sense of overwhelming crisis beyond reach of traditional solutions;

    2. belief one’s group is the victim, justifying any action without legal or moral limits;

    3. need for authority by a natural leader above the law, relying on the superiority of his instincts;

    4. right of the chosen people to dominate others without legal or moral restraint;

    5. fear of foreign `contamination."[12]

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

It's sobering to see that the excuses given for undermining the Constitution due to the U.S. "War on Terror" could easily be lifted from an instruction manual for facism.

We have to ask ourselves if fascist government control is really what the United States stands for, the direction we want to go for ourselves, and the example that we want to set for the world.  We have an opportunity to vote on that this Fall.

"Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power."

    - Benito Mussolini, Encyclopedia Italiana

  20. No, they think this a small porblem

  21. no lol tc

  22. Sure we do. We care the same as we do about the Tooth Faerie, Santa Claus, the Boogy Man, and other fictional phenomena.

  23. No

    NO

Americans are not very Care full

Global Control is far more important

Many here in Answers do not even believe there is Global Warming.

Find out who financed Hitler before you point fingers

    They care less about NATURE

unless it is in a predatory way .

    Such as replacing rain forests

with food to be used for ethanol

    Americans are very deep

    But not Caring

  24. i think america doesnt really care..because if they REALLY cared even their tiniest move would have help solving the problem MUCH easier...

  25. Global Warming is a freaking scam brought on to make money. Think about it: If companies really cared about global warming they would give everyone hybrids, give away all those expensive light bulbs (which by the way contain more mercury than normal which damage the environment further) and generally not preach it like a religion. It's a scam to think the human population has such a large effect on the environment. We're a spec on this planet, a tiny minuscule organism that will not survive longer than Earth. How arrogant are we to believe we have such a large impact on a planet? The earth is covered in 75% water and only 3% of that has been explored. Carbon offsets? The catholic church did the same back in the dark ages with sinning. You could "buy your sin away" by giving money or goods to the church. Before you go over the edge with this please give another point of view a try and then decide. Rent/steal/borrow/buy "The Great Global Warming Swindle" by the BBC. It's a great film that everyone should watch when they're forced to watch Al Gores garbage.

Oh and your insinuation is highly offensive and horribly arrogant. I hope you learn better someday.

  26. Global warmings a myth, climate change has always happened its natural. Global warmings just an excuse for governments to jump on the band wagon and stick tax on everything.

It snowed last night in Sheffield (Mid April) how the h***s that warm.

  27. Only people who are brainwashed and want to feel good about a cause regardless of the facts.

  28. crazy people in America care about it

  29. Sierra Club and Greenpeace are not great examples they are elitist groups who care nothing for average working people.  They see the world has their playground just for the rich I would bet your country has the same type people.   The biggest threat to the environment are so called environmentalist, this socialist elite agenda to save the earth is what will in fact deter humanity for progressing.   And if anyone dare speak against them, they are called idiots, morons, criminals.  Didn't Hitler have the same attitude to those who might have had the courage to speak out against him.   Freedom is not everyone agreeing on everything, its about the freedom to speak out against others you disagree with.

  30. We care more then any other country.  Look at all the foreign aid we give every year.  We give away more the 10 times all the other countries combined.

  31. Definitly, every were i go i see "going green" and "recycle" and "get out and plant a tree" or somthing like that... personally... i think we are on our way to a global warming free earth! :-)
