Does America owe Barack Obama the Presidency?

Do we owe Obama the office of the President of the United States because of the history in this country of slavery, civil rights violations, etc?

  1. Absolutely not. And this idea in general is what the GOP has over the democratic party.  Whether or not you believe in the statement you presented, I obviously do not know. However there ARE members of the Dems that DO believe this to be true (not to generalize but they are mostly povertly level black americans in inner-cities across the nothern US). This is a serious issue that the black community needs to address in itself. The caucasin generations of today are no more responsible for slavary and the problems with civil rights in the 60's then the black generations of today. And for this ignorance to then attempt to start a movement is not only a detriment to themselves, but also to Obama himself. He dosn't characterise himself as a black or a caucasian man. He has tried very specifically to keep issues like these to a minnimum and to endorse the fact that he doesn't want anyones support simply because they are black and so is he. He wants support because people think HE HIMSELF deserves it. Not because he is half black and that black people were enslaved and are still to a point segregated and stereotypes against. If the black community that presents these issues wants to be taken seriously among the rest of the country, they need to realize that to a great extent THEY are the once hindering their own advancement in socitey; not what anyonelses ancestors did.

  11. He's no where close to being qualified. We owe him nothing!  He owes the USA. Part of his education he got for free. He' a closet smoker and a racist. He just shouldn't hide it.

  13. ummm.....  Rember that his half-brother is living in a hut in Kenya - where his Dad was from.  If there were slaves in his ancestory somewhere on his Father's side it occurred in Africa.  It is highly probably that there were serf ancestors on his Mothers side in Europe as well.   So perhaps he is owed the Presidency of Kenya or the P.M. spot in the U.K. as well
