In the news, all I ever hear about is what is wrong w/ America. It is rare to hear about someone supporting the/any president. I wonder what happened the the sense of patriotism that was so prevelent during both WW's? Do you still appreciate living in America & what it stands for? What can be done to boost patriotism like it was afer 9-11?

  1. Well Nicole many still do!

Truth, Justice, and the American Way ! Forever !

  2. It's because of where the "news" is coming from: A 40-mile wide bit of real estate between Boston and Washington, D.C. with branch offices in San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles. It's being generated by a group of people who refer to the rest of us as "flyover country". And it would be amusing were they not so ignorant of the country which lies between those two coasts.

I live in Southern Nevada and am exposed to that ignorance every time a story breaks which involves the Las Vegas Valley. We're going through it right now with the story of the pedophile who's at large after a video tape surfaced that showed him molesting a little girl. Larry King talks about it happening in Pahrump and says it's right next to Las Vegas. Pahrump is sixty five miles from Las Vegas on the other side of a mountain range!

Thank your stars that you have access to the internet. You can download the web editions of newspapers between those two coasts. You can also get international news from Voice of America and the BBC, just to name two.

I'm retired Navy. The patriots are still out there. We had a display of over 3,000 flags with names on them at a local cemetery to commemorate those who died during the attack on America. But, no word of that got out to the "mainstream media" because O.J. got in the way.

I read about parades, homecomings, communities getting together to offer tangible support to the troops every day.

But, if you live inside that 40-mile wide "bubble" of insularity and ignorance, you will never hear about it because those who report the news couldn't find most of the other places on a map!

  3. You hear that from the liberal media.

Liberals want to appease our enemies so they belittle this country to fit in with the rest of Americas enemies

  4. America means Patriotism... What other country do you know of that celebrates it more?  Most of my fellow "American" friends & family are Patriotic in every sense of the word...we honor our country, our soldiers, our President Bush, his military advisors, and highly respect what they are doing to save this country from the hands of the terrorists.  We email each other almost everyday and it always contains patriotic photos of soldiers on duty, in honor of their country in Iraq or Afghanistan...a prayer for them is always attached...many of my family members, Uncles, brother, husband, father-in-law, have all served our country.  Yes, Patriotism is very much alive in America...I do not envision a future without. Let's not forget the American flag and what she represents...FREEDOM, something most countries do not honor or have...and 4th of July...there are thousands and thousands of people that do celebrate our country and show their patriotic colors on this day...God Bless America!!!!

  5. A lot of us still have a strong sense of patriotism.  You're just confused because most of us have cut our ties with Bush and are opposing his continuation of the endless war program.  Thus, we patriots don't have the same image that we used to.  Sometimes patriots must oppose bad policy for the good of the country.  Other times, we have to work together to support great causes of our nation.  At one time in history, patriotism was in the hearts of people who rebelled against their government and fired muskets at the soldiers who represented their king's government.  Patriotism looks different in different times and places.

  6. The people who are against the president and the war ARE patriots.  They want what is best for our country, whic is to get us out of that useless, and greed inspired conflict.

  7. Seems to me most people in the media would rather blame Bush and surrender to the leaders of the countries that would in the end shoot them in the head just as fast as Bush. Most media is dedicated to the democratic party and like those cowards would rather let our military men and women die in vain that to stick with it until victory was gained.

Since Korea this country has backed down from every fight. when you look at the role the media has played in these conflicts, we as american citizens are or should I say allow our opinions to be influenced by powers that seek self serving motives rather than whats best for our country.

What led to 9/11 was years of ignorant bliss by pot smoking, sexually harrassing leaders claiming sainthood while cleaning out the white house of its history and dignity. But the media has us so brainwashed that we only see the current administration as the culprit.

In the days of yesteryear we stood together as a country believing that united we rise and devided we fall. Greed is going to be our downfall. Look around. We are driven by it. The belief that he who dies with the most wins is our creed these days.

Unfortunately patriotism the likes of what we saw after 9/11 only last so long and then we all go back to our selfish lives. We forget that our country was attacked! Again! but unlike Pearl Harbor instead of declaring war we slap the faces of a few.

These countries that wage war on our innocent now, that do not respect us now will never stop until we as americans stand united against them and behind the leader of our country. BTW! Who believes these very countries would respect us more if Hillary were the President? Has anyone actually listened to how often she has flip flopped her opinions and personality? Those that vote for her will be signing our countries innocents death certificates. Watch and see because the media has brainwashed enough to actually give her a shot at winning.

Hate Bush? Not this american. Not this patriot. We as a country would do more for freedom by standing together than fighting amongst ourselves. What kind of example is that for other countries to follow or even want?

If you can find any accurate history books read what is written about the country that was once called The United States. Where do you think we would be if our founding fathers had the same attitude as those that wish to be in charge now have?

Give me a man that served our country and has worked for a living the shot at the Presidency and he will get my vote.

To be a country of patriots we need to be led by them...

  8. Not as strong a sense as it used to.  This is directly attributable to my own stupid, self-centered, spoiled, baby boom generation.

They have managed to dumb down the schools, remove all reference to God, corporal punishment as well.  They have bastardized the legal profession.  They have infiltrated the Judiciary and forced all manner of radical liberalism upon the American citizenry through judicial fiat.

Back in 1961, before some liberal judges decided that when the Constitution spells out "Freedom of Religion" what they really meant was Freedom from Religion, there was non-sectarian prayer in school.  You could read the bible and even sing hymns.  At that time the biggest problems in public schools, according to the principals of them were: running in the halls, chewing gum and talking in class.

Now, the biggest problems are violence, pregnancy and suicide.  Do you see an correlation here?

Back before there was welfare, the black urban population consisted of 85% married couples.  Now?  Many urban black populations have 75% of the children born out of wedlock and 56% being raised by single mothers and/or grandparents.

Health care was accessible and affordable.  Heck, doctors would even make house calls.  But, of course, the baby boomers had to stick their noses into that as well.  In fact, pretty much everything we touched we have corrupted.

    .

  9. Americans must revive the patriotism that their forefathers had.  To be loyal to the constitution, to the country and to their leaders.

  10. People in the military do, and so do a few Americans here and there. Most Americans including almost  every politician of both parties in DC do not care about America or there fellow Americans. Most people it seems today are more worried about what is best for me and what can America give me than what can I do for my nation.

  11. oh yeah...now more tan ever
