Does Amtrak have electricity in the train?

On longer train rides, does anyone know if there is power you can hook into on the train for laptops etc?

  1. I would assume so.  They have lights and such onboard.


  2. yeah, i've charged a cell phone between boston and new york.  it's 2 regular 120 VAC wall outlets every seat

  4. Actually, the power outlets are 100VAC 50 Hertz in coach or 115VAC 60 Hertz in the lavatories on long distance trains.

  5. Yes they do. They have a generator in the locomotive and electrical hook ups on every car to supply electricity throughout the train. They also have outlets for laptops and radios inside each car.
